Research Interests

Dr. Simmons offers Kiiko Matsumoto's Japanese-style acupuncture for the treatment of a variety of conditions including pain, chemotherapy side effects, inflammatory conditions, and dry eyes.

Kiiko Matsumoto’s Japanese-style acupuncture emphasizes the use of palpatory findings for diagnosis and point location. Kiiko Matsumoto’s style of acupuncture is influenced greatly by the teachings of important Japanese acupuncturists such as Master Nagano, Master Kawai, and Dr. Manaka. She has fused their wisdom with insights from her clinical observations and her own translations of ancient texts such as the Nanjing (Classic of Difficult Issues) to develop her own style. By concentrating on the constitutional and structural roots of a person’s symptomatic complaints, the practitioner of this type of acupuncture is better able to assist the body to heal itself.
