Professional Background
Dr. Amala Guha is the founding Director of
Complementary
Alternative Supportive Care (CASC) at the UConn Health Center
and the founding President of
The International Society for Ayurveda and Health (ISAH). As the
president the society, Dr. Guha leads a consortium of 11-medical
schools that participates in the society’s activities at various
levels.
Dr. Guha received her Doctoral Degree in Immunology from
University of Allahabad, India in collaboration with the
University of Connecticut School of Medicine (1990) followed by
the fellowship in Hematology/Oncology, supported by the NIH
training Grant. She received her graduate degree in Public
Health from Connecticut School of Medicine (1997) and received her training
in Ayurveda at Ayurvedic Medical College in Bombay (2002) and
the University of Puna in Pune, India (2006). She teaches Ayurveda at
the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and leads
Ayurveda Training Programs sponsored by the University of
Connecticut School of Medicine, in collaboration with The
International Society for Ayurveda and Health (ISAH) and
the University of Puna Ayurvedic Medical School India. Her research
involves clinical Ayurvedic Medicine and Herbal Rasayanas in
collaboration with Ayurvedic Medical Schools of India and the
government of India. Dr. Guha is a fellow of The Leukemia Society of
America.
